Macaroni? Macaroon? Macarone? Macaron?

Say the title six times, fast! :D

So, it has been a while since the last time we baked. This time, we challenged ourselves to bake macarons. Choc Raspberry Macarons. We didn't bake from scratch but bought the Adriano Zumbo pre-prepared box.

Illuminated night in Sydney

Two nights were spent to visit light artworks that were displayed throughout Sydney CBD. Even though the nights were freezing and wet, it was worth visiting the city for Vivid Light Festival. Luna and I attended Vivid on the 1st of June and on the 9th of June, exploring Sydney a bit more for the first time. Those nights were so crowded that it was hard to try and take photos without having other people's silhouettes intervening. Nonetheless, the photos turned out great and it was worth being out there, exploring our city.

Now, you guys shall view some photos that we took on these two colourful nights. We will also add in some photos we took when Luna and I decided to travel to a place near my university of a beautiful peace garden at Chatswood.

It's uni break, why not bake?

The title says that Luna and I were baking. (Ly is currently in her exam periods, wish her luck!) Yes, we baked today and we decided to post this up tonight before we sleep. Hehe.

So, we decided a while ago, perhaps a month ago, to bake during the uni winter holidays. Taking advantage to be creative and innovative! We challenged ourselves to make a rainbow layered cake. I'm sure we all have seen those awesome and successfully made cakes on the internet, books, magazine etc. that's why we chose it.

We started at 1PM and finished making the cake around 7:30PM. It took us 6 hours to make this cake, patiently waiting to bake each layer, cleaning up, deciding what to do next and how we were going to do it. A good way to use your brain during break.

Making this cake was messy and time consuming, nonetheless worth every single moment of our effort and time. Luna and I, as well as our extra helper (thank you, you know who you are when you read this!) were so happy that we successfully did it! Ticking this off our holiday-to-do list!

If you bloggers/readers want to know how to make a rainbow cake, just type into google 'rainbow cake recipe' and all sorts will pop up! Challenge yourself today, be creative and inventive!

Here are the photographs showing our progression throughout this whole day.

Welcoming...!

Hi guys!

Sorry for being really, really, really quiet lately! The uni life has been hectic and mind-killing. *cries* Anyway, let's move on, shall we?

Back in March, I made a post about one of first photo shoots that I did for a friend. If you guys don't remember, here is the link. Now that you have clicked on that link (I will just assume you guys have or not X3), Luminary Photography is introducing a new member to the team ~~
LY
Now I shall let Ly introduce herself in this post. Please welcome her aswell!

Hi Folks! The name's Ly. Currently an undergraduate student. Have a habit of capturing moments of vagueness and awkwardness. My photography skills picked up during High School where I would secretly take photos of myself (I do love taking selfies) and other people when they are unaware. *Ninja ^.^b* This obsession of taking photos whenever and wherever I was and am, was constantly at the back of my mind, demanding me to take as much pictures as I can and of this instant (hands twitching) and not let anything go to waste! That was when I realized, I have a hobby for photography. And boy, lads and gents do I have an eye for great detail. ;) I hope, further down the track, whatever commitments I have, whether it be uni, work or maybe going to the toilet, I would still have time to share my photos with you hungry photo bloggers out there! BRING ON THE CAMERAS CAUSE LIFE'S TOO SHORT!

AKA, LYTHEZOMBIE.

We'll be back soon!

Coming together like Yin and Yang

On Saturday night, the 11th of May, Luna and I attended an 18th birthday party of a two friends of ours. We were asked to take photos of their special night, to commemorate, not only their 18th year on this planet but their friendship that they have shared since the day they were born. Happy belated birthday to our friends, Andrew and Tony.

The night was quite spontaneous with various activities provided by the host themselves. This night was actually challenging for us because we have not had much experience the flash. Taking photos, trying to get the flash bounce off the roof to give a nice light fill to the photos. It was quite fun trying though and looking forward to using the flash in the near future.

The theme of this party was Yin-Yang where everywhere you look, majority of what you see was black and white, even the birthday boys were wearing black and white. There is not much words I can explain this night aside from saying it was an enjoyable night, celebrating with these beings and sharing to us their touching story. Here are the photos!

We walk great distances to get to where we are in life

Hello folks!

Sorry for being absent for almost three weeks! We did mention we had a shoot on the 6th of May and we've edited the photographs. However time has been constraint for me (Marie) due to uni work -- it's hard to juggle everything and trying to get this post up ASAP. *sad face*

Anyway, during these three weeks, we've been planning projects and experimenting with Adobe Photoshop. We were also preparing for the recent shoot we just did too. Quite hectic going to places, trying to plan before the actual date. Also bought a new lens! Now our cameras are twins!

Enough of that, let's move on to the day and some sweet and innocent photographs of our dear friend, Alexandra. Alexandra is another friend of ours from school, and it was really fun working with her. The theme of the shoot was Life and Strength, personally chosen by Alex herself. We also had Alex pick the location and she chose Royal National Park, Watamolla. A really nice and relaxing location South Coast of Sydney. Although it took us more than an hour to get there (due to wrong turns) it was all worth the travel.

It took us less than 2 hours to make these props that we later gave to Alex to keep.

The water at the beach was so blue. Could not resist to take pictures of it. If you guys ever come to Watamolla, you'll love it here!

Also, throughout those three weeks, we had to help Alex to pick out outfits for the shoot. So it resulted in a white dress and a red one also. Luckily, it took less than 2 hours to pick out dresses.

Now moving on, finally~~

Surrounded by beauty

Hey guys!

We've mentioned in yesterday's post that we would be posting up a recent shoot fairly soon -- well, fairly soon was very soon. So, Luna and I had a shoot on the 22nd of April, which was only two days ago! So, we worked very quickly to edit photos and discussed with our client with what photos are best to present here.

The shoot had taken place at Hyde Park in the city and Pitt St Mall Westfields. The park is very residential, so we had to be aware of our surroundings. We thought the day was not going to be good, but the sun came out nice and bright.

Moving on, our client Yaeun (make sure to check out her blog by clicking on her name) was ready and set and we were too by the time we've met up. Being that this is our third, second for Luna, shoot it is giving a good experience with different type of individuals. It is a good way in helping making decisions -- we didn't know where to start and how to start but we eventually rolled in.

We started off at Hyde Park first where Yaeun is wearing a nice green blouse with a aqua skater skirt.

One step at a time

It has been almost a week since we said we thought of a name. After a few days, trying to work out our name and asking different point of views, we finally came up with it. Before we say the name, we share how we came around to it too!

So as we said in our previous post, we thought of the name Night Sky's Glow. We thought it sounded pretty and nice, however from a third perspective it's long and hard to say which resulted in us thinking that it sounded a bit childish too. Outcome of it: It stays as our blog title name and the previous name becomes our slogan "one photograph, one thousand memories". To recap, the name originated from the meanings of our name Luna and Marie, moon and stars of the sea. Moon and stars have the similarity of being in the sky, also the universe, and also shine or glow.

Alrightio, onto our name, so the person I asked about our name gave a suggest of Lunamarie Photography and instantly I thought Luminary. It seems so that we have come to that before but brushed it off. Luminary means "a celestial body that gives light" or "an inspiration to others" which was nice and decent. Luna drew a diagram of the transition of LUNAMARIE to LUMINARY.

Working on our name

Marie and I finally came down to a name to call ourselves, Night sky’s glow. It is derived from our names, Luna and Marie meaning moon and stars of the sea, respectively. Moon and stars both appears and glows at night. With this concept, we gathered many ideas such as moonlight, night light,  illuminate, luminaire and other wild and incompatible names. After all the complications and day dream, it finally took us over 4 hours to come up with this name! However, after asking an opinion a third perspective, we realised the name was a  bit childish and fitted more as a blog title, so we'll be further working on our name and hopefully soon enough reveal it.

As Marie mentioned, I stayed in Taiwan for 3 days along with 4 and a half weeks in Vietnam. It was a great experience trying to understand one’s culture and reuniting with distant families. I took photos and videos wherever possible. Here are some below.
